What is Patterns of Evidence: Young Explorers?

While on a camping and canoeing outing a group of ten young people learn about an investigation looking for evidence of Moses and the Israelites’ Exodus out of Egypt. By the end of the weekend they decide to go with investigative filmmaker Timothy Mahoney on an adventure to explore the Bible. Over the following weeks they look for ancient clues in the biblical text, which prepares them for face-to-face encounters with Egyptologists and archaeologists. But there is more to the investigation then Timothy lets on. He has a secret device, the Exploration Chamber, which is a digital hologram space that allows them to actually travel to the places mentioned in the Bible. What they ultimately find is a pattern of evidence that matches six major events of the Exodus account. It’s a faith-affirming experience establishing the historical credibility of the Bible that could change their lives.

Who created the series?

Patterns of Evidence: Young Explorers is a new series created by Timothy Mahoney of Thinking Man Films to complement the award-winning documentary, Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus. This film was shown nationally in over 650 theaters in 2015. Most modern scholars say there is no evidence for the early stories in the Bible. By taking a new approach, Mahoney learns that there is an amazing pattern of evidence matching the Exodus story, much earlier than expected. Winner of 13 awards, the original film, Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus, has been endorsed by many Christian leaders and scholars.

“I’ve seen the film and I was very impressed with it. I was not only impressed with it, I was overjoyed by it, because it’s the best presentation of the material I’ve ever seen.”

Dr. Norman Geisler

former president of Evangelical Theological Society

“This film is marvelous. It gets the right things right. And therefore it is a hallmark… there is nothing else like it!”

Dr. Walt Kaiser

Old Testament Scholar, Co-Editor and Author of the Zondervan Archaeological Study Bible

“The thing I love about this film is that Tim Mahoney has taken history and archaeology and he’s looked at it through the lens of Scripture, instead of looking at the Bible through the lens of history and archaeology.”

Why is it important for young people to understand that their faith is based upon historical events?

In today’s culture, there is a strong opposition to the validity of the Bible. Those attacks are often aimed at young people in the areas of science and history. Even in some Christian circles there is a trend away from considering the Bible as an accurate historical account from creation onward. However, the Bible stakes its claims on the fact that it is a real account of God acting in the affairs of mankind, and all of its teachings flow from that reality. The Christian faith is uniquely built on history. If the Bible’s historical record is not trustworthy, then the credibility of all of its teachings fall apart. That is why it is so important to demonstrate patterns of evidence that affirm the trustworthiness of the Bible.

When will the series be available?

The first episodes of the series are slated to be released summer of 2016.
